Tomi Ahonen has continued his "Pearls" series of eBooks on case studies of real mobile services from around the world, following the well-received and praised Pearls Vol 1: Mobile Advertising with Pearls Vol 2: Mobile Social Networking.

Like Vol1 also only in eBook format, Pearls Vol 2: Mobiile Social Networking is 171 pages in length, formated for the small screens of smartphones, the iPhone, PDAs, Blackberries etc. Like Vol 1, this new eBook is not encrypted and is offered in basic pdf format so any eBook reader can be used including Kindle and any netbooks, notebook and desktop computers.

Pearls Vol 2: Mobile Social Networking has 50 "pearls" ie real mobile services commercially launched and specific to the topic of social networking on mobile, including Cyworld, Itsmy, Mobage Town, Habbo Hotel, Tohato, Flirtomatic, MTV, SeeMeTV, Mogi, the Obama campaign, Twitter, Mixi, etc. The Pearls span the world and include many from the most innovative providers from Asia, Europe, North America. The collection includes 10 Pearls that Tomi has never shown into the public domain and has only offered to his private workshop consulting audiences.

Tomi Ahonen is the former Nokia executive who has written six hardcover bestsellers for the mobile industry, that are referenced in over 50 books by other authors. He has written an industry Almanac also in eBook format. This Pearls Vol 2 will be Tomi's third eBook and his ninth book overall. Tomi is regularly quoted in the press on the mobile industry specifically on new services, applications and innovations. His Pearls are very widely referenced.

The eBook license is a single user licence and is not allowed to be distributed. But the file is not encrypted, is in native pdf format so you will not need any special eBook reader software, and there are no restrictions for you to install the file on several readers, computers etc for your personal use.

REPETITION IN THE SERIES OF PEARLS E-BOOKS

For those who own Pearls Vol 1, this second Volume will have several chapters of overlap. Most chapters that will repeat, will be placed to the back of the eBook to facilitate easy reading for those who have more than one in the series of Pearls eBooks. Pearls Vol 2: Mobile Social Networking has all unique discussions of 50 Pearls. In a few cases of topic overlap - such as with Flirtomatic - this second Volume will include a unique Pearls slide and a completely different story relevant to this Volume.

Of the total page count of 171 pages, 105 pages discuss the 50 new Pearls. There is also completely new or strongly revised pages with 22 more pages of differing content compared to Pearls Vol 1, giving 137 pages of original content (thus Vol 2 is 80% new). The chapters that will mostly repeat text with only minor revisions, are Industry and Customers, Seventh Mass Media, Creating Magic, and Hstory of the Pearls.
